2007 Activity Dilemma

Before you know it, 2007 will be upon us.

And for me, that means making some decisions about how I want to spend my evenings and weekends. It gets even more complicated as the weather gets warmer.

I was hoping to start playing softball again in 2007. I haven’t been on a team since the MG&E team in 2001, and it is a sport that I miss dearly. My bats, cleats, glove and softballs have collected quite a bit of dust.

But, it seems there will not be enough time to play softball. The reasons are that besides an endless desire to spend time with my family, there are two main activities that will not allow time for softball. Remodeling our house and training again for the MS150 Bicycle Tour.

If I want to get the house done on a reasonable schedule, I should probably put in four nights a week. If I want to be able to ride 100 miles on my bike in one day, I should be training at least two nights a week. Throwing softball into that schedule just doesn’t fit.

That being said, I look forward to seeing you all in 2008!
