Elevator Experiment

Here is a psychological experiment for you.

There are two elevators in an elevator bank. Both are fully functional, and always have been. Near the door to one of the elvators, a sign is hung stating the elevator is out of service for repair work.

A person steps up to the elevator and pushes the up button. The door for the ‘out of service’ elevator opens up.

Does the person get in?
