Have you used 1-800-GOOG-411 yet? If not, you are missing out on a great new tool that is absolutely free!
This is a new 411 directory by Google. You know, those great web searching guys. Well, now they have a FREE 411 business directory service that uses Google information to connect you to the business you need.
From your cell or land line, just call 1-800-GOOG-411. Then, just use your voice to find what you want through this entirely automated service. Screw up, or if the computer doesn’t understand you? just say “back” and you will be at the previous menu for another try. It can connect you to the business directly, tell you information (from scouring the web), or even text the information right to you.
Melody and I are debating whether it will connect for free. For example, let’s say I am in North Carolina and I want to call Day One Pizza in Columbus, Wisconsin. If I make the Goog411 call, will I be charged for long distance? I know there is no charge for this 411 service, but is there still a charge for the long distance call?
If there is no charge for the long distance call, just imagine the possibilities. Let’s say you run your own company from home (or you cheat the system and you get your non-business line listed). So, you are listed in Google. Well, now your son/daughter/family could call the free Goog411 and connect to your business line, for example from a pay phone (does anybody still use these), and have absolutely no charges. I don’t know? It is an experiment I will attempt soon.
