Because it is more fun to bring the office into the home. Check out this board game:
In Power Grid, players compete to build up electrical networks from scratch and be the player to power the most cities at game end.
Basically, this is a sort of “Risk” except for the power industry. The 1st edition came out in 2004, and featured a map of Germany on one side of the board, a map of the United States on the back side of the board. In October 2007, a “Power Plant Deck 2 Expansion” was available in the US.
Here is a link to wiki to learn more about Power Grid. I would include a link to where you can buy it, but it looks to be one of those harder to find games.
If you are struggling to find me something for Christmas, feel free to put some resources into finding Power Grid. The only problem I see with it is that only Tojo will probably play it with me.
You can find this game on Amazon.com. Also, if you go out to Rio Grande games website (makers of Power Grid) you can see a list of stores that sell their products. If you go the latter route, I would suggest calling the game store in advance to see if they have Power Grid in stock.
